Northern Wings Aviation is an aircraft charter company based in Montana’s Gallatin valley.
Our business is mountain flying, animal research and forest surveys.
We provide access to remote airstrips for hunters, fishermen and rafters; ranching community support and other logistics which require a STOL aircraft capable of high altitude or unimproved runway operations.
Our priority is flight support of natural resources research in the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem. Wildlife conservation and aviation are two areas of lifelong interest, so aerial wildlife tracking is more than just a business to us.
Having lived, worked and played in the mountains all of our lives, we know the weather and terrain of the Northern Rockies. We are very experienced operating small aircraft in this environment.
Safe mountain flying requires both knowledge and practice. For those pilots who wish to develop or improve this skill, we provide instruction tailored to the individual’s experience level, to include the tailwheel endorsement.
We also offer aircraft ferry services, with an emphasis on aircraft transport to and from Alaska.
Our aircraft is the high performance Aviat Husky. This versatile aircraft is capable of respectable cruise speed without sacrificing excellent low speed maneuverability. With a fuel capacity of 50 gallons, we have good endurance for research flights and few destinations are beyond our reach. It has very stable ground handling characteristics which make it a great tailwheel trainer.
Northern Wings Aviation is a licensed Commercial Air Carrier under FAR part 135 and approved contractor for the Department of Interior AMD and the State of Montana.
